UF hires Philadelphia Eagles exec to be Gators’ general manager
46+ min ago (230+ words) GAINESVILLE " Florida hired Dave Caldwell away from the Philadelphia Eagles to become the Gators" general manager, a position the 51-year-old held with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2013 to 2020. Caldwell"s hiring, confirmed Sunday by the Orlando Sentinel, will bring an NFL-style structure to a rebuilding program soon to be led by new head coach Jon Sumrall from Tulane. Caldwell will negotiate player contracts, manage the salary cap and evaluate college talent as the demands of NIL and the transfer portal have become too much for a coaching staff to manage alone. Jake Rosenberg, the vice president of football administration with the Philadelphia Eagles under UF alum Howie Roseman, headed the GM search for UF, with Caldwell among several candidates for the position. During Caldwell"s stint in Jacksonville, the Jaguars were 37-86 but did reach the 2017 AFC title game, losing to eventual…...

Bianchi: Gators miss Lane Train and now hope their new Jon Boat doesn’t sink
4+ hour, 49+ min ago (795+ words) Two decades ago, Urban Meyer chose Florida over Notre Dame because he believed the Gators were the surest path to national championships. On Sunday, Lane Kiffin chose LSU over Florida " a blunt-force reminder that the landscape has shifted under Gainesville's feet like a sinkhole in mid-summer. Call it what you want " evolution, erosion, whatever " but the reality is this: Florida isn't who Florida thinks it is anymore. And that's why the Jon Sumrall era begins not with trumpets, but with therapy. Let's get the uncomfortable truths out first " the ones Gator fans whisper but don't want printed. And when the Gators reached for Lane Kiffin " the swaggering, trolling, visor-wearing, algorithm-breaking coach who felt like the perfect antidote to a fan base drowning in pessimism " he looked at Florida " and said no. He chose LSU's clown show over the Gators. He…...
Where Magic stand through first 20 games of season | Analysis
5+ hour, 4+ min ago (745+ words) Although the 2025-26 NBA season is still young and the playoff race is far from heating up, the Magic already have played 20 of their 82 regular-season game in the blink of an eye. Entering Sunday's slate, Orlando (12-8) sat seventh in the Eastern Conference and just two games behind the second-place Raptors (14-6). Nearly a quarter of the way through the season, Jamahl Mosley's squad already has faced plenty of adversity following a 1-4 start and an injury to star forward Paolo Banchero, who's missed the last eight contests. But to Orlando's credit, the group didn't quit despite the slow start and went 10-4 in November to get on track toward its goal of reaching the postseason for a third year in a row. Before turning the page on the first 20 games of the season, here's a look at where the Magic stand heading into December:…...

Debacle at Swamp underscores Seminoles’ shortcomings
7+ hour, 27+ min ago (657+ words) GAINESVILLE " A season that began with so much promise for Florida State ended with familiar road disappointment. FSU's offense struggled in 2025 on the road, and on Saturday the Seminoles fell behind early, had more trouble running the ball and couldn't stop Jadan Baugh, who ran for 266 yards and two touchdowns in a 40-21 loss to Florida. After a 3-0 start, which included a win over Alabama, the Seminoles finished just 2-7. FSU never played well enough on the road, losing all of its away games for a second straight season and didn't defeat a rival in 2024 or '25. "We've got to be drastically better from what we've shown," FSU coach Mike Norvell said. "For what showed up tonight, it wasn't good enough in any regard as coaches, players, any aspect of it. We've got to become a more consistent football team." FSU (5-7) was consistently…...

This year's chosen artists are Jordan Carl Jones, Sophia Mitchell, Xavier Moss, Mya Osborne and Alex Rogers. While each of the creators has unique styles and distinct bodies of work on display, they are bound by the common ties of working in paint-based media and sharing personal stories. "They took themselves from the inside out and made…...
Things we learned in Miami Dolphins’ 21-17 victory over the New Orleans Saints
11+ hour, 12+ min ago (918+ words) MIAMI GARDENS " The Miami Dolphins" race to a .500 record took a step in the right direction Sunday with a closer-than-necessary 21-17 victory over the New Orleans Saints at a sometimes rainy Hard Rock Stadium. The Dolphins (5-7), who have a three-game winning streak and have won four of their past five games, had a few rough spots in dispatching the Saints (2-10). But considering style points don"t count in the NFL it was no big deal. Still, it"s worth noting Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was sacked four times and the offense only scored one touchdown. Beyond that the Dolphins had to make a couple of big plays at the end " intercepting a 2-point conversion attempt and getting a fourth-down stop " to secure the win against one of the worst teams in the league. But whatever. The Dolphins won. Here"s what…...
